As much a part of American culture as Old Glory and Mom’s apple pie, barbershop quartet singing is an original American art form. It thrives today through the efforts of an organization formed in 1938, for the preservation and encouragement of barbershop quartet singing in America. Today, this organization, known as the Barbershop Harmony Society is the world’s largest all male singing organization.
The Chordsmen, a Chapter of this society, were chartered in 1955. We are celebrating our 60th season of bringing music, laughter, and entertainment in four part “Barbershop” harmony to South Texas.
The chorus members represent just about every occupation and profession, and range in age from the “teens” to the “seniors.” We are united in our desire to sing four part harmony and to sing it well.
